This course is for teachers interested in using robots to help explain concepts in science and technology. Teachers will design, build, and program mobile LEGO robots for use in the K - 12 curricula and publish course material to the World Wide Web. Robotic projects stimulate fresh ideas for creating better learning environments for students and will provide tools for teachers to use. Summer 2003 Course

To support this effort, ITT Industries has generously agreed to underwrite the cost of the robots so that each teacher will be able to take a LEGO robot back to his or her school.

4. Overview of gear math and pulleys & chains. (2 hours)
5. Introduction to systems engineering. (2 hours)
6. Discussion of curricula issues. (3 hours)

Projects

1. Build and program a simple robot. This is an individual project. (3 hours)
2. Design and build web pages. (10 hours)
3. Design, build, program, and demonstrate a robot. This is a team project. (12 hours)
4. Develop and present of lesson plan including robots. (5 hours)
